Tuivasa leaks name of UFC 305 opponent
Fan favourite UFC heavyweight Tai Tuivasa has let it slip that he’ll fight Jairzinho Rozenstruik in Perth on August 17 at UFC 305.
The news was revealed in a YouTube vlog with Alex Pereira, where the pair were sparring for the camera.
Afterwards, one of Pereira’s team asked Tuivasa when he’d fight next. In response, the Aussie said:
“August, Perth [UFC 305]. What’s his name? Rozenstruik. Good fight, no f***ing wrestling. I’m sick of all the f***ing wrestling.”
The Australian is on a two-year losing streak in the UFC, having suffered stoppages in his past four fights.
However, the 31-year-old will now get one more shot at moving his way up the heavyweight rankings.
All or nothing for both Tuivasa and Rozenstruik
Tuivasa and Rozenstruik are ranked No.10 and No.12 in the UFC heavyweight division respectively.
With Tuivasa sitting at 8-7 in the promotion and Rozenstruik at 8-5, this shapes up as a do-or-die encounter for both.
Both are in their 30s, with a loss likely to leave them outside the top 15 in the rankings.
Win, however, and a title shot would remain a possibility for either fighter.
UFC betting sites are yet to reveal odds ahead of the fight, given that it hasn’t been officially announced yet.
When they do, expect this one ending by knockout to be the shortest method of victory. Tuivasa specialises in going for the big shot, while Rozenstruik is no different.
Of the 16 wins that Tuivasa and Rozenstruik have between them in the UFC, 15 have come by knockout.
The only question is: who will land the fight-ending blow first?
