Training team look to extend winning run

Luck has been on the side of training partners Terry O’Sullivan and daughter Karina.

Since being faced with what looked like an end to the career of promising filly Green Patina at Pakenham last week, the stable has score three wins from their past four starters.

After wins at Horsham and Ballarat, Green Patina was pulled out of her race at Pakenham with Terry O’Sullivan saying the end result was nowhere near as bad as it first looked.

“It looked pretty disastrous,” O’Sullivan said.

“She’s got a fracture to a hind fetlock and she tore a hamstring as well.

“She’s going to be off the track for a good while but everything will come good.”

The O’Sullivans recent success came via a double at Sandown on Wednesday and another winner at Kyneton on Thursday, all at double figure odds.

The Stawell-based duo will endeavour to continue their run at Flemington on Saturday with two runners and a further four at the country meeting on their home track.

At Flemington Who Says I’m Ready is a $26 chance in the Vaughan Constructions Handicap while $31 hope Majestic Duke contests the Western Health First Response Pharmacy Cup.

Terry O’Sullivan says it’s a big step up in class for Who Says I’m Ready after victories at Geelong and Bendigo.

“He’s been running on pretty strong and I thought he deserved a crack at it,” O’Sullivan said.

“Hopefully the Flemington track will suit him and the 2500 metres should be OK also after the way he hit the line last time.”

A tongue tie and ear muffs go on Majestic Duke who bids to win to win his first race since June last year.

O’Sullivan said Majestic Duke had been racing well before putting in below par efforts at his past two starts,.

“We’ve put some ear muffs on so he doesn’t race quite as hard so hopefully he’ll relax a bit and the tongue tie will stop him displacing the soft palate,” O’Sullivan said.

“He’s had them on at trackwork and we’ve been happy with his work so now we need him to produce it when it counts.”
