Trainer Matthew Leek to face RAD Board

Victorian trainer Matthew Lee has been hit with three charges including attempted race day treatment.

The charges stem from an inspection of Leek’s stables on August 8 this year by Racing Victoria’s compliance assurance team.

The Leek-trained High Valley and Cash Sail were entered to race at Pakenham later that day.

Both horses were allowed to start and finished last and ninth in their respective races.

Stewards allege Leek was attempting to inject High Valley and/or Cash Sail with with amino acids L-Carnitine Injection and Mitachondral Injection without permission of the stewards when detected by the CAT.

He has also been charged with trying to destroy evidence and failing to keep proper treatment records.

A date for the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board to hear the charges has not been set.
