Trainer Tony Gollan will split promising 2yos Garibaldi who beat Vincere Volare at Eagle Farm.

Premier Brisbane trainer Tony Gollan is keen to keep his two star youngsters Garibaldi and Vincere Volare apart for as long as possible.

Gollan has high hopes for both two-year-olds and is looking to take them to Sydney for the autumn carnival.

Garibaldi lived up to the hype around him with a comprehensive win at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Vincere Volare will step out for the first time since winning on debut in November when she tackles the Two-Year-Old Handicap (1110m) at Doomben on Saturday week.

“I want to keep them apart for as long as possible. I don’t think there is much between them,” Gollan said.

“If things go right we will head to Sydney with both in a couple of weeks to tackle the big autumn two-year-olds.”

Gollan has another promising juvenile, Ready To Roam, who has been second to Garibaldi in both a Doomben trial and Saturday’s Eagle Farm race.

“He didn’t have much luck in the race at Eagle Farm and while he wouldn’t have won he probably should have finished closer,” Gollan said.

“We will set him for the ($250,000) Aquis Jewel at the Gold Coast next month (March 15).”

Ready to Roam is another promising youngster by Queensland first-season sire Better Than Ready.

Another promising youngster, the David Vandyke-trained Alligator Blood, will be tried at a longer distance as a final step towards a Sydney trip.

Alligator Blood is unbeaten in two starts, the latest in the Sunshine Coast 2YO Classic (1200m) last week.

Vandyke has Alligator Blood in the Golden Slipper (1200m) on March 23 but his jockey Jeff Lloyd believes he will be better over a longer distance.

Vandyke will test that theory when Alligator Blood runs over 1300m at Eagle Farm on February 23.

“I am excited about getting him out in distance,” Vandyke said.
