Tom Trbojevic heads to USA for hamstring rehab
Tom Trbojevic is headed to Philadelphia in the United States to visit Bill Knowles of Knowles Athletic in a desperate attempt to sort out his hamstring woes.
Trbojevic will be following in the footsteps of fellow superstar fullback Latrell Mitchell, who visited Knowles before reinvigorating his form for the South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2022.
Knowles is a world-renowned ‘Master Reconditioning & Athletic Development Coach’ who has worked with some of the biggest names in sport, including Tiger Woods, Peyton Manning, and Andy Murray.
Trbojevic was recovering from a season-ending shoulder injury and reconstruction when he sustained a grade-two hamstring injury in December, with an expected two-month recovery period.
Should Trbojevic’s recovery be completed without any setbacks, he is expected to be fit for the Manly Sea Eagles when they take on the Bulldogs on March 4.
Trbojevic has suffered six hamstring injuries in the last three years, along with injuries to his shoulder, knee, and pectoral.
When fit, Trbojevic is one of the most dangerous and influential players in the NRL, highlighted by the fact the Sea Eagles only win around 30% of matches in which he does not play.
In 2021, Trbojevic won the Dally M Medal for NRL player of the year with 35 votes and a combined 28 tries and try assists, as well as being named fullback of the year.
Speaking on the trip to the United States, Trbojevic pointed to Mitchell’s success as a big factor in the decision.
“We all saw what Latrell did off the back of the trip, so I think it’s a really good opportunity for me to go over there and look at a few new ideas and pick some things out I can bring back here,” he said.
The Sea Eagles have confirmed Trbojevic will spend two weeks in the US.
