Tom Nolan set for UFC 312 homecoming against Borshchev
The UFC’s 2025 schedule gets even more exciting with the addition of UFC 312, which will bring a local flair to the global stage.
Australian lightweight talent Tom Nolan is set to clash with Viacheslav Borshchev on February 9 at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, promising a thrilling bout for the hometown crowd.
Nolan, a rising star in the lightweight division, made his UFC debut in 2023 after turning heads on Dana White’s Contender Series.
Despite a setback in his promotional debut against Nikolas Motta, the 24-year-old rebounded in style in 2024, securing victories over Victor Martinez and Alex Reyes.
With an 8-1 record and two consecutive wins, the Queensland native aims to make a definitive statement in front of a home crowd.
His opponent, Viacheslav “Slava Claus” Borshchev, is known for his striking prowess and unorthodox fighting style.
Representing Team Alpha Male, Borshchev boasts a UFC record of 3-3-1, including a gritty split-decision victory over James Llontop in August 2024.
With six knockouts among his eight professional wins, Borshchev will look to disrupt Nolan’s momentum as he seeks consistency in his UFC career.
UFC 312 will also feature two marquee title fights.
The main event sees South African middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis defending his belt against former titleholder Sean Strickland in a highly anticipated rematch, with the top UFC bookmakers having du Plessis as a $1.58 betting favourtie.
Their first encounter at UFC 297 ended in a razor-thin decision for du Plessis, setting the stage for a heated rivalry to culminate under the bright lights of Sydney.
Meanwhile, strawweight champion Zhang Weili will defend her title against elite wrestler Tatiana Suarez in the co-main event, a clash that pits striking precision against grappling dominance.
With a stacked card that includes Nolan’s pivotal fight and two high-stakes title bouts, UFC 312 is shaping up to be an unforgettable night of action.
As the promotion returns to Sydney, local fans will have plenty to cheer for, with Tom Nolan eager to shine on home soil and solidify his place as a future contender in the lightweight division.
