Titans v Sharks match preview
The Gold Coast Titans will be looking to continue their excellent form this Friday night as they host the Cronulla Sharks in round 23 of the 2024 NRL Premiership.
Last Saturday, the Titans secured a dominant 28-point win over the Broncos. After conceding the first two tries of the match, it was all one-way traffic as the Gold Coast added nine of the next 10 tries.
With five wins from their last six matches, it is no surprise to see the Titans as favourites for this clash at $1.57. However, sitting in 11th, it seems they have left their finals push too late, with top NRL odds of $13 to make the finals.
There is just one change for Des Hasler’s side this week as second-rower Klese Haas replaces the injured Beau Fermor (bruised kidney).
Cronulla were also successful last round, beating the Rabbitohs by 14 points at home. In an excellent defensive display, the Sharks conceded just one try for the afternoon while piling on four of their own.
It was a much-needed steadier for the Sharks, who had lost four of their previous five matches. Despite sitting inside the top four, they enter this clash as underdogs on the road.
The loss of halfback Braydon Trindall has forced Craig Fitzgibbon to move the magnets around. Blayke Brailey moves to No.7, Cameron McInnes to hooker and Jack Williams to lock. Forward pair Tom Hazleton and Jayden Berrell join the bench, while Braden Hamlin-Uele misses with a knee injury.

Titans v Sharks predictions
After dismantling the Broncos, the Titans have now won their last three home matches by an average of 32 points. Instability in the spine is a concern for the Sharks, who have only beaten sides in the bottom four across the past nine weeks. Back the Titans to get the job done, covering the handicap of 5.5 points at $1.91 with top online bookmakers.
Despite showing their attacking quality in round 22, the Titans had gone under the total points line in each of their previous four matches. In 27 meetings between these sides, no game has ever had more than 50 total points, so back this one to go under 51.5 at $1.90 with leading Australian betting sites.
A key part of the Titans’ recent success has been their high-scoring left-hand side, which has produced nine tries in the last four weeks. While winger Alofiana Khan-Pereira gets most of the plaudits, keep an eye out for centre Brian Kelly, who has three tries in his last four matches and offers great value to get over once again at $3.30 with top rugby league bookies.
