Tipping A-League winners for the week 20 multi
SYDNEY FC and the Melbourne Victory are currently the only two teams assured of finals action in the A-League.
There is just 10 points separating the third-placed Brisbane Roar and the ninth-placed Central Coast Mariners, which means the final seven rounds of the season will be played at a ferocious pace as teams look to force their way into the final six.
Wooden spoon favourites at the start of the year, it is not inconceivable for the Central Coast Mariners to force their way into the finals at the $3.75 quote via Sportsbet.com.au.
It’s all to play for as we enter the business end of the season.
All odds for the 20th week of the A-League season were provided by Sportsbet.com.au, which is offering punters a fantastic inducement for those yet to sign up.
New customers can get their first bet at Sportsbet matched up to the value of $501.
Selections for the week 20 A-League multi:
Newcastle Jets to beat Adelaide United ($3.20)
Sydney FC to defeat Western Sydney Wanderers ($2.05)
Perth Glory to beat Brisbane Roar ($2.55)
Melbourne Victory to win against the Central Coast Mariners ($1.57)
Combined multi value: $26.26 @ Sportsbet.com.au
Adelaide United vs. Newcastle Jets
Friday, February 17 from 7.50 pm AEDST Coopers Stadium, Adelaide
The Newcastle Jets are looking to maintain their push towards an unlikely finals berth alive as they visit the bottom of the table Adelaide United on Friday night.
The Jets earned a hard-fought point against the Victory last week in a match they were expected to be blown away in.
The Reds are winless across their last four matches which includes three losses. Their performance last week against Perth was horrendous and career killing.
Like last week’s best bet of Perth in Adelaide, this round we are happy to take the inflated odds on the Jets, who should not find it difficult to outclass the listless Reds at home.
Newcastle Jets to win – $4.20
Western Sydney Wanderers vs. Sydney FC
Saturday, February 18 from 7.50 pm AEDST, ANZ Stadium, Sydney
A pivotal Sydney Derby is the second leg of our multi as the Wanderers host the Sky Blues at ANZ Stadium.
Western Sydney is locked on 21 points alongside the sixth placed Newcastle, which sits above the Sydney-siders due to goal difference. Nothing short of wins will do for WSW.
Sydney FC is still undefeated this season. The Sky Blues were fantastic last week in their consummate professional win against Wellington last week.
The Sky Blues are undefeated in the last nine matches against the Wanderers, winning six of those matches. Hard to see how Western Sydney can overturn that poor run of form here.
Sydney FC should get the job done to move us onto the third leg of our multi.
Sydney FC to win – $2.05
Perth Glory vs. Brisbane Roar
Saturday, February 18 from 10 pm AEDST, NIB Stadium, Perth
A high scoring affair is anticipated in Saturday night’s late match between the Perth Glory and the Brisbane Roar over in the nation’s west.
The last three matches between the two sides has seen an incredible total of 15 goals scored. Sportsbet.com.au clients can get $4.50 for that trend to continue on Saturday if over 4.5 goals are scored.
The Glory are looking to keep their fantastic run of form continuing after their 5-0 away win against Adelaide last week. It was their most dominant victory of the season which all but assured a finals position.
Brisbane is looking to get their names back on the winner’s sheet after two consecutive draws. The Roar were lucky to be awarded a dubious penalty in the match against City last week which ensured the men in orange a valuable point.
It is hard to question the form the Glory are in and we are backing them to maintain the rage into Saturday night.
Perth Glory to win – $2.55
Central Coast Mariners vs. Newcastle Jets
Sunday, February 19 from 5 pm AEDST, Central Coast Stadium, Gosford
The second last Mariners are well within the finals hunt, but unfortunately the Central Coast face the Melbourne Victory on Sunday.
The Mariners have won three straight matches to place themselves within two points of the sixth placed Jets.
The Melbourne Victory look to have a top-two position sewn up. Their draw last week against the Jets was disappointing but we suspect they may already have one eye on the finals.
The big V is looking to extend their unbeaten run against the Mariners to 11 matches. The draw last week would have stung the pride of the Melbourne-dwellers and we believe they will easily account for the Mariners to bring our multi home.
Melbourne Victory to win – $1.57
