The Friday Twitter wrap from a wild week of NRL headlines
THERE’S a never-ending cycle of sport in Australia, and the NRL is no exception.
Whether it is Thursday night fixtures, coaches getting sacked or anything in between, the opening month of NRL action has been as hectic as we can remember.
We took a look at two of the biggest issues coming out of the NRL following Thursday night footy and let the Twitterverse do the talking.
Forward thinking Roosters at the top of the NRL pile
The Roosters remain undefeated in the NRL competition after a crushing 14-point win over the Rabbitohs on Thursday night.
The Tricolours may have firmed into $6.50 alongside the Melbourne Storm at Sportsbet.com.au to be this year’s premiership favourites, but not everyone was impressed.
@TheWoodsmanTree @apaulrove I don’t think the roosters are a top 4 side cos Souths were ordinary last night and conceded 3 tries

Last week the Roosters won in contentious fashion last week against the Penrith Panthers, and the new premiership favourites continue to push the boundaries of legality.
It might have been inconsequential to the overall result, but one Twitter user believes he has spotted a Rooster trend across the opening month of football.
Another forward pass try to the Roosters! Two weeks in a row. #GoRabbitohs #NRLSouthsRoosters #nrl pic.twitter.com/Z2p9UovRKu

The eagle-eyed footy fan was not the only person to spot the transgression.
@NRL Hey @Todd_Greenberg Is the forward pass rule different 4 the Roosters than everyone else. Another howler & the Roosters score again

It takes a die-hard fan to predict your team will win almost 16 hours after they have lost, but few could argue that the Rabbitohs have some of the most passionate fans in the league.
We are just hoping this South’s fan did not make any bets with their friends given the result is already in the books.
@NrlBall
Rd four predications
Rabbitohs
Raiders
Manly
Sharks
Titans
Dragons

Ivan Cleary in line for the Tigers coaching role?
After sacking their coach during week, and if the rumours are to be believed former Penrith main man Ivan Cleary is about to take over the reins at Wests.
Cleary – who is currently the head coach of Lebanon – could be announced as the new Tigers coach as early as this week, and Twitter users are already speculating as to who will take over the international coaching job.
Rumour: Ivan Cleary to coach Wests Tigers, (steps down from Lebanon)
Craig Bellamy to coach Lebanon ?? in this years World Cup. #RLWC17

Some Tiger fans are not certain it is the coach’s issue however.
One Twitter user lambasted superstar captain Aaron Woods after a disappointing opening to the season.
@aaronwoods11 @oherrol hey woods you wanna get that team to learn how to TACKLE!! Mate , Ivan Cleary can’t teach u to tackle at 30 years old
— klitschkoKO’sUFC (@klitsTkOcain) March 24, 2017
The general consensus from fans though is that Cleary will be a great appointment for the club.
if the Tigers take anybody other than Ivan Cleary as their coach … when as @MeslootHozil said, if you dont have anything nice to say …
— Glorious (@suthodan) March 23, 2017
Others went as far as to say it would be ill-advised for a coach of his stature to take over the Tigers job.
I have mountains of respect for Ivan Cleary but mate please steer clear of the West Tigers, you deserve better #NRL #UcanDobetter
