The best weekend multi for November 19-20 – Railway Stakes tips
AFTER another weekend without any of the big soccer leagues, we welcome the Premier League back into our loving embrace and ask it never to leave us again.
Let’s face it; a weekend in the Australian spring/summer without the Premier League is a boring one, as entertaining as the alternatives are.
This week we have the EPL back, as well as the A-League, NBA and NFL – but there is also Group 1 racing from Western Australia on offer for punters to get on board.
The Group 1 Railway Stakes is an entertaining race and this year’s edition is shaping up to be one of the most competitive yet.
We have poured over each and every game this weekend and put together four of our favourite bets for a weekend multi that we believe will return a healthy dividend for our loyal readers.
All odds for this weekend’s sporting action were provided by Sportsbet.com.au.
Weekend multi selections for November 19-20:
Mackintosh to place in the 2016 Railway Stakes ($2.50)
Newcastle Jets to beat Central Coast Mariners ($2)
Chelsea to beat Middlesbrough ($1.50)
New York Giants to beat the Chicago Bears ($1.29)
Combined multi value: $9.67 @ Sportsbet.com.au
2016 Railway Stakes
Saturday, November 19 from 8pm AEDST Ascot racecourse, Perth
The Group 1 Railway Stakes is the first leg of our weekend multi and we are backing a Waller-trained runner to make an impression from a wide alley.
In the lead up to the Railway Waller has been raving about Mackintosh’s preparation, and we are happy to back the champion trainer in after the four-year-old’s form over recent weeks, which has seen the gelding place twice in the last three starts.
The only concern for us is barrier 16, but last year Waller trained Good Project to a win from a similar car-park entry and we are not putting it beyond him to repeat the dose.
We are taking the safe option here as the odds on a placing are terrific, but Mackintosh to place in the Railway looks to be the bet of the day.
Mackintosh to place in the Railway Stakes – $2.50

Newcastle Jets vs. Central Coast Mariners
Sunday, November 13 from 5pm AEDST, Allianz Stadium, Sydney
Second game of the multi is the F3 derby between the Newcastle Jets and the Central Coast Mariners.
Both the Mariners ($2.50 at Sportsbet.com.au) and the Jets ($2.75 at Sportsbet.com.au) have been the easy-beats in recent seasons, but this campaign they have shown a lot more fight.
Despite having just two wins between them in the 2016/17 season, both sides have shown a lot more spirit than they have displayed in campaigns past and are both unlucky not to boast more wins.
To our eye though there seems to be a gulf in class between the pair and we think the Jets are the far superior side of the two.
Newcastle is one of our favourite teams to watch this campaign and we think they will have no trouble accounting for the Mariners.
Middlesbrough vs. Chelsea
Monday, November 21 from 3am AEDST, Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough
Third leg of the weekend mutli sees Chelsea traveling to Middlesbrough to face a team they have dominated over the last ten years.
Chelsea has been beaten only twice in their last 17 Premier League matches against Middlesbrough in an incredible run that stretches back ten years.
Not only have they reigned supreme over the ‘brough, but Chelsea’s season to date has been spectacular to say the least.
The Blues have scored 11 goals from their last three matches and have not conceded a goal in that timeframe.
We are not expecting an upset here. The Blues keep our multi rolling into the final leg.
New York Giants vs. Chicago Bears
Monday, November 21 from 5am AEDST, Metlife Stadium, New Jersey
The Big Blue and the Bears round out our weekend multi at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey.
After winning just once in the opening month of football, the Giants have gone on an absolute rampage, winning four games in a row.
Petulant star Odel Beckham Junior has been the catalyst for the revival, grazing on the tasty green grass in the endzone at will after a fruitless period in the touchdown column.
The Chicago Bears have had yet another season to forget.
The Bears have just two wins to their name after nine matches and are fresh off a 24 point loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
We see no reason why the Giants will not make it six in a row here. Eli’s Big Blue continue to charge towards the playoffs as Chicago flatter to yet another losing season.
New York Giants to win – $1.29
