Tests clear Cumani stable of strangles
The Ballarat stables of Matt Cumani have been given the all-clear after a case of strangles closed down his training operation.
Racing Victoria stewards on Thursday lifted the “infected place” status on the third and final barn following the receipt of clear test results.
Strict quarantine protocols were put in place on November 23 when RV stewards became aware a Cumani-trained horse had contracted strangles.
Horses in two other Cumani barns and the stables of fellow Ballarat trainer James Wardeiner had their status lifted as infected places earlier this month.
The removal of the ban allows all the Cumani horses to have full use of all track facilities at Ballarat and also allows Cumani to enter and accept for races.
