Two teams currently inside the top eight will do battle in a massive Friday night clash this week, as the Sydney Swans host the Richmond Tigers at the SCG in round 11 of the 2022 AFL season.
The Swans and Tigers currently sit seventh and eighth respectively on the AFL ladder, while their percentage could not be closer, making them perfect opponents at this point of the year.
Damian Hardwick’s Tigers did well to win their big clash with the Bombers last week, but the victory was soiled by the injury sustained to the Coleman Medal leader in Tom Lynch.
Kane Lambert was another Richmond Tigers player who went down last week, as he was subbed out in the third quarter with a hip injury.
The Swans did not get through their round 10 contest unscathed, as Josh Kennedy was subbed out with a torn hamstring and will miss the next chunk of the season.
James Rowbottom will return to Sydney Swans this week after serving his one-match suspension, immediately filling the void of Kennedy as a like-for-like replacement.
It may be hard for the Tigers to fill the void left behind by Lynch, which could put an end to their fantastic run of four consecutive victories.
The last clash between these sides finished with a big margin in favour of the Swans at the MCG, where the young Swans Chad Warner, Sam Wicks and Ollie Florent played breakout games.
Key matchup: Logan McDonald vs Jack Riewoldt
Another young Swan who is coming off a breakout performance is Logan McDonald, who was outstanding against the Blues last weekend. McDonald played an impressive key forward’s game, but his inaccurate kicking stopped him from having a day out.
Jack Riewoldt will be the one to fill the Lynch-sized hole in attack this week, and the veteran Tiger should be eager to reclaim his position as the go-to target inside 50. Although the conditions at the SCG are not going to be perfect, the two key forwards will be the most important assets on the ground, as a strong performance from one of these two could be the difference.
Sydney Swans vs Richmond Tigers betting tips
Sydney Swans to win by 1-39
Despite both teams entering this match with the same number of wins and an almost identical percentage, the Swans look to be the stronger side on paper. The loss of Tom Lynch is massive for the Tigers, who will severely miss both him and Noah Balta at the other end of the ground. John Longmire’s men should snap the Tigers’ four-match winning streak this Friday with their superior midfield and overall healthier list.
Sydney Swans 1-39
Logan McDonald to kick 2+ goals
Logan McDonald was fantastic for the Swans in round 10 against the Blues, as the young forward kicked 3.3 and took 10 marks against the elite opposition. The tall forward is very athletic and has a sound set-shot routine, which should see him straight up his wayward kicking from last week. McDonald only needs half a dozen touches to finish with a pair of goals.

Swans vs Tigers Same game multi tips
Just as Chad Warner did against the Tigers 12 months ago, we think the powerful midfielder is going to plough through Richmond’s midfield and claim a big win for the Swans, while Logan McDonald takes another leap forward in his blossoming career.
