Sydney v Fremantle match preview
The Sydney Swans will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the AFL ladder when they host Fremantle on Saturday afternoon at the SCG.
In front of their home crowd, the Swans are heavy favourites at $1.22 with PlayUp. The Dockers are rank outsiders at $4.35 with Bet365, while the line is set at 26.5 points.
Last Saturday, Sydney secured their 10th win in a row as they beat the GWS Giants by 27 points at ENGIE Stadium. After an even first quarter, the Swans kicked 10 straight goals across the second and third quarters to kill the contest. Sydney winger Errol Gulden secured the Brett Kirk Medal with 41 disposals and a goal, while Brodie Grundy continued his excellent form in the ruck with 28 disposals and 31 hitouts.
With three games and percentage in hand over second-placed Carlton, the Swans are clear favourites for the premiership at $3 with leading AFL bookmakers.
Don’t expect many changes for Sydney after they got through the match against the Giants unscathed. However, the likes of Robbie Fox and Matt Roberts are pushing for a return, with Braden Campbell and Caiden Cleary at risk of omission.
Fremantle found success in round 15, beating the Gold Coast Suns by 20 points on Sunday afternoon. In a low-scoring clash, the Dockers’ defence was impressive, while their own inaccuracy flattered the Suns. Midfielder Hayden Young was best on ground with 24 disposals and three goals, while Andrew Brayshaw had 32 disposals and a goal.
With just one loss from their past five matches, Fremantle have worked their way up to fifth on the AFL ladder. However, with a tough draw ahead, online bookmakers are giving them odds of $3.75 to make the top four.
Fremantle will be without co-captain Alex Pearce after he suffered an arm injury against the Suns. Expect the inexperienced Josh Draper to fill the void in defence.

Sydney v Fremantle betting strategy
It is hard to bet against the Swans right now. They are unbeaten at home in 2024, while the Dockers have a record of 4-4 on the road. Last time these sides faced each other, Sydney were 48-point winners in Perth, so back them to cover the line of 26.5 points at $1.91 with Bet365.
Averaging 37.7 disposals per game over the last three weeks, Swans winger Errol Gulden continues to improve. The 22-year-old thrives in the uncontested side of the game, yet he also attends a third of all centre bounces. At $3.50 with top Australian bookmakers, Gulden offers excellent value to collect 35 or more disposals.
Fremantle midfielder Caleb Serong has also found plenty of footy in 2024, averaging 31.7 disposals per game. Leading the way in nearly every midfield statistic for the Dockers, the 23-year-old has yet to have a game under 25 disposals this season. Serong had 34 disposals when these teams last met, so back him to put in another big performance with 35 or more touches at $4.33 with top AFL betting sites.
