Sydney Thunder vs Sydney Sixers BBL13 preview
The Big Bash League continues on Saturday night with the Sydney Smash as the Thunder face the Sixers at Sydney Showground Stadium.
With just one win from their season so far, the Sydney Thunder quickly need to turn things around if they are going to push for a finals spot. Up the top of the order, star recruit Cameron Bancroft has been a standout with 175 runs at a strike rate of 133. Whilst with the ball, Daniel Sams leads the BBL for wickets with ten, whilst Pakistani import Zaman Khan has also impressed with eight. They possess the quality to challenge at the back end of the tournament but are yet to put together a full performance.
The Sydney Sixers suffered their first defeat of BBL 13 in their last match as they went down to the Melbourne Stars in an unexpected result. English opener James Vince was impressive with 83 but had little support as ultimately their total of 154 wasn’t enough. After winning their first three matches there is no cause for concern for the Sixers, who are regulars in the BBL finals.

Thunder top wickettaker — Daniel Sams
Daniel Hughes 20+ Runs
Sydney Thunder vs Sydney Sixers betting predictions
A one-sided rivalry, the Sixers have won their last four matches against the Thunder. In the first match at the Showground Stadium this season, the pitch traditionally favours the bowlers. Despite their wicket-taking form, the Thunder bowlers have conceded plenty of runs and may struggle against the depth of the Sixers batting order. As favourites, it is hard to look past the Sixers at -149.25 with Picklebet.
Taking nine wickets in his last two matches, Daniel Sams has been excellent for the Thunder. A combination of bowling with the new ball and at the death, Sams has the best opportunities to take wickets when the batsmen are most vulnerable. Equipped with an excellent slower ball that lures batsmen into mistiming the ball, back Sams in to lead the Thunder bowlers at +220 with top cricket bookmakers.
After an excellent start to the tournament with 60* against the Hurricanes, Sixers number three Daniel Hughes is now under pressure to perform after missing out in his last two knocks. A patient batsman, Hughes is known for his ability to anchor the innings with wickets falling around him. On a pitch that is expected to favour the bowlers, don’t be surprised if early wickets see Hughes forced to spend time at the crease, where we like him to score 20+ runs at -128.21 with top online bookmakers.
