Sydney Thunder vs Perth Scorchers match preview
As the Big Bash League continues, two sides desperate for a win face off this Monday night in Sydney as the Thunder take on the Scorchers.
After a strong start to the season, the Thunder are now winless in their last three.
On Friday night, they fell to the Hurricanes by six wickets with 19 balls to spare.
On a tough pitch, captain David Warner was a standout, scoring 88* off 66 balls as the Thunder set 164 to win. But in the second innings the Thunder struggled, with each of the pace bowlers going for over 10 an over, the score was chased down comfortably.
As a result, the Thunder have now dropped down to third on the ladder, but top cricket bookies are still bullish on the side, giving them the third-best odds to win the BBL at +450. With a win in this clash, the Sydney team can secure a finals spot.
The Scorchers are also in poor form, losing each of their last three games to leave them on the brink of elimination.
On Saturday afternoon, they fell victim to one of the all-time Big Bash innings, as they lost to the Sixers by 14 runs.
Bowling first, the Scorchers were unable to stop a Steve Smith masterclass, who carried the Sixers to an imposing 220. In response, the Scorchers had a good crack, with Ashton Turner (66 off 32), Sam Fanning (41 off 29) and Cooper Connolly (33 off 23) all playing important knocks. But in the end the Scorchers fell just short.
Sitting in fifth on the ladder, the Scorchers are on the verge of missing the finals. A loss in this game will likely knock them out of the running, while a win will put them right back in the mix. Leading BBL betting apps have given them +1100 odds to win the tournament.

Syndey Thunder vs Perth Scorchers predictions
Despite the Scorchers losing their last three matches, on each occasion it has been close, losing in the final over twice before their loss to the Sixers. They still have one of the strongest lineups in the BBL, while the Thunder are struggling for depth on both sides of the ball thanks to injuries and international selections. Despite the Thunder getting the win last time these sides met, back the Scorchers to bounce back as slight favourites at -121.95 with Marantelli Bet.
Leading the BBL for runs with 316 at an average of 63, Thunder captain David Warner is in excellent form right now. He has led the Thunder runscorers in each of his last four innings, which includes three 50s and a 49, so back him to continue the trend at +260 with Marantelli Bet.
Another player who has scored plenty of runs this tournament is Scorchers all-rounder Cooper Connolly. He is second in the BBL for runs scored and has passed 30 in five of his last six innings. Playing the anchor role through the middle, expect Connolly to reach the mark once again at +130 with Marantelli Bet.
