Swiatek overtakes Sabalenka as Australian Open betting favourite
Iga Swiatek is the new favourite to win the 2025 Australian Open women’s singles title, with the second seed demolishing Emma Navarra in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.
Top tennis betting sites have brought the Polish star from $2.25 into as short as $2 to lift the trophy at Melbourne Park, with world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka drifting out to around $2.30.
That comes on the back of an impressive 6-1, 6-2 victory for Swiatek, although it was not without controversy.
With the scores at 2-2 in the second set, the Pole clinched a difficult service game after returning a drop shot that appeared to bounce twice on her side of the net.
Despite Navarro’s protests, the chair umpire refused to consult the video replay and the point was awarded to Swiatek.
Next up for the four-time French Open winner is a semi-final clash with Madison Keys, who came from a set down to beat Elina Svitolina 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 earlier on Wednesday.
Swiatek enters that matchup as a $1.20 favourite at Unibet, with Keys paying $4.80 to spring the upset.
Online bookmakers have the American underdog at $14 to claim the Australian Open title — the longest odds of the final four.
