Swanny’s expert advice for Brownlow favourite Dustin Martin

Former Collingwood star Dane Swan
PATRICK Dangerfield’s controversial suspension has left Dustin Martin as the short-priced favourite to win the 2017 Brownlow Medal.

The tricky part for the Richmond star is making sure he remains eligible for the award.

Dusty was lucky to escape a ban in round 17 when the Match Review Panel cited him over two incidents from an ill-spirited clash with the Brisbane Lions.

He was fined for both, which means he can still win the Brownlow as long as he does not commit a third sanctionable offence in the last four weeks of the home and away season.

Luckily for Martin, a former winner of the prestigious gong has come forth with some sage advice.

Speaking from poolside in Morocco via online bookmaker Sportsbet.com.au, Dane Swan said the Tiger terror’s best bet was to keep a low profile for the remainder of the season.

The Collingwood premiership star believes Martin has enough votes already and should use every excuse in the book to avoid risking another on-field infringement.

“Even half a dozen cocktails down, Swanny speaks a lot of sense so hopefully Dusty takes heed of the advice and doesn’t go anywhere near the ball for the next four weeks,” said Sportsbet’s Christian Jantzen.

Martin has plunged to -454.55 in the Brownlow betting since Dangerfield’s ban was confirmed, leaving Hawthorn’s Tom Mitchell (+400) and Essendon’s Zach Merrett (+1200) as the closest challengers.
