Round 20: Melbourne Storm v Sydney Roosters match preview
The Melbourne Storm host the Sydney Roosters in a top-of-the-table blockbuster on Saturday night in round 20 of the 2024 NRL Premiership.
Melbourne have not been beaten since round 12, when they travelled to Manly without Ryan Papenhuyzen and Cameron Munster. Sitting at the summit of the NRL ladder, the Storm will be looking for wins to improve their lead on the second-placed Penrith Panthers.
The Roosters are in the running for second place on the ladder, and they could get there with a win in this match. Having won three of their last four games by 13 or more points, Easts couldn’t be in much better form to take on the Storm.
Trent Robinson has made several changes to his starting Roosters side. Joseph-Aukuso Sua’ali’i returns from suspension in the centres, Terrell May starts in place of the suspended Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, and Sandon Smith and Naufahu Whyte join the bench. Ethan King drops back to the reserves.
Storm coach Craig Bellamy welcomes back Nick Meaney from a calf problem to start at centre, shifting Grant Anderson to the wing and Kane Bradley out of the side. Star hooker Harry Grant has been named to back up from game three of the State of Origin series, with Bronson Garlick dropping out.

Storm v Roosters R20 betting predictions
The Storm have won four of their last five clashes with the Roosters, with two of those wins coming at this ground. The home side has also won 16 of the last 17 matches at AAMI Park. Provided Grant backs up from Origin, there is great value in Melbourne’s +110 head-to-head price with top NRL bookmakers.
Superstar fullback Papenhuyzen has been in especially brilliant at home recently, scoring the first try in his last two appearances in Melbourne. He’s also scored tries in each of his last four matches, and -111.11 at PlayUp is a solid quote for him to add to that tally.
Roosters winger Dominic Young has been the go-to guy in attack with his incredible speed, size and skill, especially when contesting kicks in the air. He’s scored tries in eight of his last nine appearances and is almost a lock to do so again this weekend at -181.82 with rugby league bookies.
