Super Saturday NRL action for Magic Round concludes with the Melbourne Storm taking on the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Suncorp Stadium. The Storm are coming fresh off a bye, while the Rabbitohs are flying after a commanding win over the Broncos.
The Storm have not been seen since their ANZAC Day victory over the New Zealand Warriors in Melbourne. Their only change from that game sees Tom Eisenhuth return from injury to replace Tyran Wishart on the bench.
The Rabbitohs have only made one change from their side that defeated the Broncos. Liam Knight makes a long-awaited return from injury, replacing Davvy Moale on the bench.
On form, the Rabbitohs clearly deserve to start favourites in this match. However, the Storm have a 78.8% winning percentage at Suncorp Stadium, along with an 84% win rate against the Rabbitohs. Teams returning from the bye have been incredibly successful so far in the 2023 season, and a side coached by Craig Bellamy should continue that success. The Storm are a brilliant value bet to win at $2 with BetOnline.
The Storm’s attack will be spearheaded on their left-hand side by Cameron Munster, Justin Olam, and Xavier Coates. The centre-wing combo of Olam and Coates will be the target of the Storm attack with Taane Milne – who can make poor defensive decisions – defending that edge for the Rabbitohs. Be it a cross-field kick to Coates ($1.97) or a short ball to a barraging Olam ($3.60), both are live chances to score a try at any time.
The left-edge attack of the Rabbitohs cannot be ignored – especially Cody Walker, who was the only Souths player to score on the left edge when these two sides met in round five. Since then, the combinations on that side of the field have gelled and settled further, creating an enormous amount of attacking chances. Alex Johnston ($1.88) will be the man to benefit in this match as he approaches the 200 try mark in the NRL.
Coates, Olam and Johnston are just a few names capable of scoring in this clash. In warm, dry conditions, players like Munster, Latrell Mitchell, Jahrome Hughes and Damien Cook will all be threats with their strong running games and creativity. Should they all get their opportunities to create magic in Brisbane, this will be a high-scoring match that goes over 40.5 total points ($1.90).
Key matchup: Olam v Graham

Campbell Graham will not get a better opportunity to show New South Wales Blues coach Brad Fittler and the selectors he is ready to make his State of Origin debut. Justin Olam is one of the strongest ball-runners in the NRL, with players around the league often naming him as the hardest player to tackle. Graham’s defence will be tested enormously, and if he can score points off the back of solid defence, he will be impossible to ignore for the first Origin match in Adelaide.
