Storm v Dolphins R25 preview
The Melbourne Storm are on the hunt for their sixth minor premiership, and a win against the Dolphins at AAMI Park on Saturday would all but secure them the J.J. Giltinan Shield in round 25 of the 2024 NRL Premiership.
Melbourne have won four of their last five clashes, including a dramatic two-point victory over the Panthers in Penrith last weekend. The Storm sit atop the NRL ladder, with a guarantee of a home semi-final in September.
On the other hand, the Dolphins are fighting for their first NRL finals appearance, and a win here would set them up nicely with matches to come against the Broncos and Knights. In ninth spot on the ladder, just two points out of the top eight, the Queensland club’s season looks set to go down to the wire.
Craig Bellamy has made one change to his Storm side, promoting Tyran Wishart to the wing in place of Grant Anderson (concussion). Sualauvi Faalogo completes the bench, while veteran forward Christian Welch is among the reserves.
Wayne Bennett has made just one change to his Dolphins lineup after losing to the Bulldogs by 20 points in Bundaberg last weekend, recalling Mark Nicholls (concussion) in place of Lachlan Hubner.

Storm v Dolphins betting predictions
These two clubs have met twice since the Dolphins entered the competition, with the Storm winning by eight points or less on both occasions. The Storm have won 17 of their last 19 matches at AAMI Park, and six of the Dolphins’ last seven clashes have been decided by no more than six points. There is great value on offer for the Storm to win by 10 or less at $3.60 odds with top NRL bookies.
The Dolphins have conceded tries to middle forwards in three of their last five matches. Meanwhile, Storm captain Harry Grant has continued to master his play around the ruck, scoring three tries in his last four games. Should the Dolphins middles tire, the $2.50 price at Neds is good value for Grant to score a try at any time.
The Storm’s focus on defence has begun to ramp up as we approach the pointy end of the NRL season, and each of their last three home matches have ended with less than 52 points scored. Two of the Dolphins’ last four games have been equally low-scoring, and $1.90 is a safe bet for this one to go under 52.5 total points.
