AFL footy will head over to Cairns in Queensland for this blockbuster Saturday night clash between the St Kilda Saints and Port Adelaide Power.
Brett Ratten’s Saints are absolutely flying after winning their last five matches on the trot, which puts them fifth on the ladder with a healthy percentage.
On the other hand, the Power only just recorded their first win of the season against the Eagles last week, but it was one to remember as they served up an 84-point demolition at the Adelaide Oval.
The unfamiliar location of Cazalys Stadium should bring a unique atmosphere to the contest, as neither side will have a definitive home-field or crowd advantage.
One player who attracts a crowd anywhere he goes is Max King, who could have ended with a massive bag of goals last week if not for his inaccuracies.
King unfortunately finished his night with 1.7 against a strong GWS backline, showcasing how impactful the young spearhead can be when he is at his best.
You can count on King to put through a couple of majors this weekend against the undersized Port Adelaide defence, who will turn to either Aliir Aliir or Tom Jonas on the night.
Key matchup: Jack Sinclair vs Zak Butters
Two players who have taken their games to new levels in 2022 are Jack Sinclair and Zak Butters, as both stars are receiving more time in the midfield and are impacting regularly. If the All-Australian team was selected this weekend, Sinclair would be locked in at half-back, as the classy Saint is lethal by foot and intelligent with his decision-making.
Butters has had his ups and downs this season so far, but his best footy has seen him win clearances in the middle followed up with crafty work in the forward half. The Power have more than enough weapons to work with in the midfield this week, so we think Butters will return to the forward line and match up with Sinclair.
St Kilda vs Port Adelaide match predictions
Although the Power just recorded a massive win over the Eagles, we have our eyes on the Saints this weekend in Cairns. The combination of Jack Steele and Brad Crouch in the midfield is extremely potent, while the return of Patrick Ryder from suspension will give St Kilda an edge in the ruck while Scott Lycett is sidelined for Port.
St Kilda -8.5
St Kilda vs Port Adelaide disposal betting tips
Some of Brad Hill’s best games have seen him rack up well over 30 disposals on the wing, and we still think the premiership Hawk has plenty more to give. Hill notched up 26 and 30 disposals in the opening two matches of the season, and we see no reason why he cannot hit those highs against the Power, who he had 29 touches against last season.
Brad Hill 20+ disposals
St Kilda vs Port Adelaide AFL same-game multi
A big game on the wing from Brad Hill will help the Saints cover the line this weekend, while Port Adelaide midfielder Zak Butters will bob up for a goal in the humid conditions.
St Kilda -8.5 / Hill 20+ disposals / Butters goal
