St Kilda v Richmond AFL Round 3 preview

The St Kilda Saints will take on Richmond at Marvel Stadium this Saturday in a key Round 3 clash for the 2025 AFL season.

The Saints took down Geelong last week in a scrappy seven-point win. Ross Lyon’s defensive structure kept the Cats in check for large periods, but St Kilda struggled to convert opportunities.

Richmond, meanwhile, showed plenty of promise but were ultimately overrun by Port Adelaide in a high-scoring affair. The Tigers’ youthful midfield displayed flashes of brilliance and will be looking to overrun the Saints.

AFL bookmakers are finding the Saints to win by a comfortable margin against the rebuilding Tigers.

Saints v Tigers R3 team news

The Saints have lost Hunter Clark to an abdominal injury, while Liam Stocker’s absence through concussion leaves the team a little light on key defenders.

A thumb issue has kept Cooper Sharman on the sidelines so far this season, but the 24-year-old forward is a chance to return this weekend.

Richmond will be boosted by the return of key forward Tom Lynch, who missed Round 2 through suspension but is set to lead the Tigers’ attack on Saturday.

No.7 draft pick Josh Smillie remains under an injury cloud with a hamstring concern and is likely to return via the VFL.

St Kilda v Richmond betting predictions

The Saints have looked sharp early in the season, and they’ll fancy their chances against a struggling Tigers outfit. With Richmond missing key personnel and lacking polish across the ground, St Kilda are well placed to cover the -27.5 line at $1.90 with online bookmakers.

Rowan Marshall continues to be a standout in the ruck for St Kilda, combining his clearance work with strong link-up play. He’s racked up 25 or more disposals in both games this season, and you can back him to repeat the effort at $2.95 with Bet365.

Marcus Windhager has been a lively presence in the St Kilda midfield and should get plenty of looks against Richmond’s weakened backline. At $26 with Picklebet, he’s excellent value to boot three or more goals.
