Can St Kilda secure their eighth win of the 2022 AFL season this Sunday at Marvel Stadium, or will North Melbourne respond to their recent grilling in the media?
It has been another tough year for North Melbourne fans as their rebuild continues, but the squad looks to have taken a step backwards after losing their sixth consecutive match by over 40 points.
David Noble is under immense pressure to get his Roos back on the winners’ list, but that task will be very hard against an in-form St Kilda outfit.
The Saints have put together a pair of impressive victories in the last fortnight, as they held off the Cats at home and beat the Crows on the road without their captain Jack Steele.
Dan Butler has been recalled to the Saints’ extended bench ahead, as the small forward has missed the last few contests. For the Roos, Jaidyn Stephenson is a chance to also return.
Key matchup: Max King vs Nick Larkey
The most important players to grace the field this weekend will be each side’s key forward, as both Max King and Nick Larkey have the potential to kick a big bag under the roof at Marvel. King has kicked a goal in all 10 matches so far this season and does not look like slowing down, as he finished last weekend with a equal career-high six majors against the Crows.
Nick Larkey does not mind playing the Saints, as he kicked his first ever bag of five goals against them in just his 12th career game back in 2019. Not only have these two young stars been excellent this season, they both have even bigger upside and the potential to change the course of a match in minutes. Back in both these two forwards to impact the scoreboard in a big way.
St Kilda vs North Melbourne betting tips
North Melbourne Kangaroos +46.5
Although the Roos lost to the Melbourne by 47 points in round 10, the match actually showcased some improvement from the young squad. Coming into the last quarter the Roos were only down by 22 points against the reigning premiers, but unfortunately ran out of legs in the final term. We are not saying the Kangaroos can win this match, but they should respond and put up a big fight. There is some value at $2 with AFL betting sites to take the Roos +46.5.
Jack Sinclair 30+ disposals
With Hunter Clark still sidelined and Jack Steele out of the squad for the next few months, Jack Sinclair has stepped up to become one of the best part-time midfielders in the AFL. Sinclair has hit the 30-mark in each of his last two contests since Steele went down, which should continue for another week. The breakout star also picked up an impressive 35 disposals back in round four against the Hawks, so he knows exactly how to hunt down the footy. He is also paying over $2.50 with betting sites.
Same game multi: 3 legs @ $9.19
Max King will star up forward for the Saints in what should be a close game, where Jack Sinclair will also do his job in the midfield.
