Shinn says Rose outclasses rivals for Oaks
Blake Shinn believes odds-on favourite Yankee Rose is in a class of her own as the jockey attempts to win his first VRC Oaks.
Shinn was not aboard the David Vandyke-trained three-year-old for her two Group One wins or Cox Plate third but returns for Thursday’s $1 million fillies’ Classic.
The bookies have Yankee Rose at $1.65 to win the Oaks on the back of her Cox Plate run under Dean Yendall.
“I’ve had a sit on her since the Cox Plate,” Shinn told RSN927.

“If anything she’s come on. The distance won’t be a problem.
“Traditionally in this race the best form lines and the best fillies win and tomorrow I can’t see any different.”
The winner of the Group One Spring Champion Stakes, at her first attempt at 2000m, and Sires’ Produce Stakes starts from barrier 13 in the 2500m Oaks.
“Whatever way I ride her I think she’s clearly got the class edge on her rivals that’s for sure,” Shinn said.
The Kris Lees-trained Samantha Miss, third in the 2008 Cox Plate, went on to win the Oaks as the $1.90 favourite.
