Shinn cleared over Star Sensation ride
Blake Shinn has been cleared of any integrity concerns regarding his ride on Star Sensation in a race at Rosehill.
Racing NSW stewards opened a race day inquiry on November 25 and resumed it on December 19 when they asked Shinn to provide financial and communication records.
They took further evidence from Shinn on Monday and said they were satisfied there were no integrity concerns with the jockey’s financial records.
They did, however, tell Shin they thought he had made an error of judgment in the early part of the race.
Stewards said in their opinion he continued to ride forward to cross Radiant Choice in the early stages, particularly in circumstances where the opportunity to take a position behind Radiant Choice was available and the relevant sectional time of the race between the 1200m and 1000m being run at a fast tempo (10.70 seconds).
“In electing not to issue a charge under the Rules of Racing the Stewards determined that the error of judgement was not one that was culpable, however B Shinn was advised that he must ride his mounts to ensure they are given full opportunity to win or obtain the best possible place in the field,” the stewards said.
They accepted the evidence of then-apprentice Andrew Adkins after questioning him over his ride on Burden Of Proof in the same race.
Star Sensation finished a close third in the race and Burden Of Proof fourth.
