She’s Our Star still has room to improve
Two-year-old filly She’s Our Star puts her Magic Millions credentials on the line at Doomben but trainer Tony Gollan believes she will still have room for improvement.
She’s Our Star won an unofficial trial recently and needs prize money to ensure a start in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast on January 14.
The filly is on the borderline of a start in equal 14th place but the $40,000 first prize for Saturda’ys 1050m juvenile race will lift her into the safety zone.
She’s Our Star won her only start at Doomben in early October and Gollan immediately sent her for a break with the Millions in mind.
“She was pretty immature at her first preparation and surprised us by being able to win so early. The break has done her good and she has matured,” Gollan said.
“But I am still a little behind with her and I think there will be improvement in her.”
Gollan said She’s Our Star had won a jump-out easily last week but the opposition had not been strong.
“She is developing into a nice horse and she should be ready to do well in the Millions. We just have to get there,” he said.
She’s Our Star will again be ridden Robbie Fradd who will be testing her as his Millions Classic ride.
Gollan will also start 2016 Magic Millions runner Just Orm in the Class 3 Plate in which he has drawn barrier 10.
Just Orm hasn’t started since finishing last behind Capitalist in the Millions and Gollan has taken his comeback slowly.
“He won a trial at Deagon recently beating a couple of handy horses. But it is hard to place these types of horses around Christmas,” he said.
“He wouldn’t be ready for the Magic Millions Guineas at 1400 metres, but there might be a nice race for him later in the summer” Gollan said.
“These Class Three Plate races are very hard to win and there are some very promising horses who have accepted for Saturday.”
