Sharks v Roosters Round 11 match preview
The marquee match of Magic Round will kick off Saturday’s NRL action with the competition-leading Cronulla Sharks taking on the high-flying Sydney Roosters at Suncorp Stadium.
The Sharks did the impossible last weekend, beating the Storm in Melbourne by seven points without halfback Nicho Hynes to send a warning shot to the league and solidify their position atop the NRL ladder.
The Roosters have also been in brilliant form, elevating themselves to fifth on the ladder after winning their last three matches against the Dragons, Broncos, and Warriors by a total of 138 points to 54.
Nicho Hynes is named to start at halfback for Cronulla despite carrying a calf strain. Second-rower Braden Hamlin-Uele has been left out of the side in favour of Tuku Hau Tapuha, but the lineup is otherwise unchanged.
Roosters coach Trent Robinson has been forced to make some changes with Joseph Manu (concussion) and Sandon Smith (suspension) both out. Fetalaiga Pauga lines up in the centres, Brandon Smith returns at hooker, and Connor Watson moves back to the bench.

Cronulla Sharks v Sydney Roosters betting predictions
The Sharks have won each of their last six matches, with three coming by 12 points or less and three being away from PointsBet Stadium. The Roosters have been in equally impressive form, but the outcome of this match is heavily dependent on Hynes’ fitness. Should he take the field, the Sharks should win a hard-fought match by 1-12 points at +235 odds with PlayUp.
Five of the Roosters’ last six matches have gone over the total points line, while they have scored 30 or more points in each of their last three wins. At the same time, the Sharks have scored 30 or more in four of their last six wins. Expect a high-scoring affair with more than 41.5 scored in total (-117.65).
Sharks forward Siosifa Talakai has played an incredible impact role off the bench in recent weeks, scoring a try in each of his last two outings. Meanwhile, the Roosters have conceded tries to forwards in each of their last three clashes. At $8 with Neds, there is great value on offer for Talakai to score another try this weekend.
