Serie A Matchday 22 betting preview, soccer tips & best bets
With a thrilling title race, an extensive battle for European positions, and up to eight sides fighting to avoid relegation, the Serie A action has been non-stop so far, and we are treated to ten more matches this weekend. Here are our tips and previews for Matchday 22 of the 2023/24 Serie A season:
Cagliari vs Torino preview
Saturday, January 27 – 6:45am AEDT – Unipol Domus
Sitting just one point clear of the relegation zone, Cagliari needs to turn their form around quickly after losing to fellow relegation candidate Frosinone last weekend. Facing another tough test, they welcome Torino, who have suffered just one loss in their past seven. Despite their solid form, Torino have struggled in attack, failing to score in their past four away matches. As such, back this game to have limited chances at both ends of the pitch.
Under 2.5 Goals
Atalanta vs Udinese preview
Sunday, January 28 – 1:00am AEDT – Gewiss Stadium
After coming off a 5-0 win last weekend, Atalanta and their high-powered attack are climbing up the table as they have entered the top six. Back at home this weekend, they need to be wary of the dangerous Udinese, who, despite sitting 16th, held AC Milan till the 93rd minute before conceding a late winner last Saturday. As heavy favourites with the leading bookmakers, Atalanta should be too strong here, but looking for value, the Udinese have scored eight goals in their past four matches and should get on the board here again.
Both Teams To Score
Juventus vs Empoli preview
Sunday, January 28 – 4:00am AEDT – Allianz Stadium
Currently sitting top of the league as a result of playing one more than Inter Milan, Juventus will be looking to continue to keep the pressure on as they face the 19th-placed Empoli. While the relegation contender secured a vital three points last weekend, they should be no match for Juventus in Turin. The man of the moment for Juventus is Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic, who has five goals in his last three Serie A matches and offers value to get on the scoresheet again.

AC Milan vs Bologna preview
Sunday, January 28 – 6:45am AEDT – Stadio San Siro
Sat in third place, far behind the leaders and eleven points clear of the chasing pack, AC Milan are in a strange situation where their position is almost locked in halfway through the season. Facing seventh-placed Bologna at home this weekend, AC Milan should be too strong as they look to extend their 16-match unbeaten run between the sides. In their previous match this season, it was French striker Olivier Giroud who did the damage. With ten goals already, backing the veteran offers great value.

Genoa vs Lecce preview
Sunday, January 28 – 10:30pm AEDT – Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris
After securing a huge win on the road last weekend, Genoa has now worked their way out of the relegation picture to sit 11th on the table. On a six-match undefeated run, Genoa’s form is starkly different to their opponents Lecce, who are winless in their past five including four losses. Scoring just one goal in their past five weeks, it is hard to see Lecce turning their form around on the road.
Genoa Win
Hellas Verona vs Frosinone preview
Monday, January 29 – 1:00am AEDT – Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi
After securing a vital win over Cagliari last weekend, Frosinone have now created a six-point gap between themselves and the 18th-placed Hellas Verona. Whilst they have been impressive in attack throughout the season, Cagliari have been guilty of regular defensive lapses, leaving them with the second-worst defensive record in the Serie A. A tough one to pick, with the defensive concerns of both sides, backing this match to have plenty of goals seems a safer choice.
Over 2.5 Goals
Monza vs Sassuolo preview
Monday, January 29 – 1:00am AEDT – U-Power Stadium
Completely out of form, Monza suffered their worst defeat of the season last weekend as they went down 3-0 to the 19th-placed Empoli. Still comfortably clear of the relegation zone, Monza have a chance to turn their form around as they welcome the struggling Sassuolo. Having won their past two encounters, Monza should be too strong against a side who hasn’t won in their last five away matches.
Over 2.5 Goals
Lazio vs Napoli preview
Monday, January 29 – 4:00am AEDT – Stadio Olimpico
After a trip to Saudi Arabia and a loss to Inter Milan last weekend, both Lazio and Napoli will be keen to get back into winning form this weekend. Lazio are currently on a four-match winning streak in the Serie A, whilst Napoli have won their past two. Expected to be a close encounter, we are backing Lazio to have the edge here, as they have the home advantage whilst Napoli are still missing critical players due to international duty,
Lazio Win
Fiorentina vs Inter Milan preview
Monday, January 29 – 6:45am AEDT – Stadio Artemio Franchi
Following their successful trip to Saudi Arabia with an Italian Supercup win last weekend, title contenders Inter Milan will be looking to get back to their winning ways as they face a tough away trip to Fiorentina. Whilst they sit in fourth position, Fiorentina have just one point from their past two matches and may struggle against the Milan side. Playing on the road, Inter offer better value and should be too good here.
Inter Milan Win
Salernitana vs Roma preview
Tuesday, January 30 – 6:45am AEDT – Stadio Arechi
Life under interim head coach Daniele De Rossi got off to a good start last weekend for Roma after they secured a 2-1 win over Hellas Verona. Still just two points away from fourth place, Roma are in the logjam of sides fighting for European positions. Facing a must-win game against the last-placed Salernitana, watch out for Roma striker Romelu Lukaku, who should have plenty of chances with the expected Roma dominance.
