Sebrarian collapses and dies at Canterbury
Rachel King’s stellar season has been tinged with sadness at Canterbury with the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Sebrarian collapsing and dying mid-race.
The in-form apprentice eased up the three-year-old during Wednesday’s Benchmark 66 Handicap (1900m).
Sebrarian, who won once in 10 starts, then collapsed after she dismounted.
Racing NSW stewards will open an inquiry after they receive autopsy results and medical records.
Earlier at Wednesday’s meeting King recorded her 25th city win of the season when No Interest won a Benchmark 72 Handicap (1250m) by 3-1/4 lengths.
