Round nine of the NRL Premiership continues on Super Saturday with the high-flying Manly Sea Eagles hosting the Gold Coast Titans at 4 Pines Park. The Sea Eagles are looking to secure their third win in a row, while the Titans are looking to avoid their third loss.
Manly have had to make two changes with Brad Parker and Josh Schuster both ruled out due to injury. Reuben Garrick will move into the centres, while Cooper Johns comes in at five-eighth and Christian Tuipulotu returns to first grade on the wing.
The Gold Coast Titans have also made changes following their humiliating loss to the Dolphins at Suncorp Stadium, with Kruise Leeming making way for Klese Haas to come off the interchange bench.
In just 25 matches between these two clubs, the Sea Eagles have won on 14 occasions, with 10 matches being played in Brookvale and each club winning five of those. Manly have been in far superior form over the last five rounds, securing wins over the Storm and Tigers while suffering a narrow one-point loss to an emotionally charged South Sydney side. The Titans showed last week they could be spiralling out of control, making the Sea Eagles 13+ bet a valuable one at $2.90 with BetOnline.
Garrick’s shift to what will likely be the left centre position, given Morgan Harper occupies the right side, makes betting for this game very interesting. Manly’s right-edge attack was their more dominant side against the Tigers, which should be a continuing trend for the home side this weekend. Targeting Joe Stimson and Jojo Fifita in the Titans defence will be the main goal for the Sea Eagles’ playmakers, which should see both Garrick and Haumole Olakau’atu score at any time during the match ($2.30 each).
Despite high-scoring matches against the Eels and Knights, the Manly Sea Eagles have been one of the best defensive sides in the NRL in 2023. The home side can be excused for the blowout game against the Panthers, and with this in mind, Saturday should be another low-scoring affair. Manly have an opportunity to continue chasing the Broncos and the top spot on the NRL ladder with a win over the Titans, so defence will certainly be their focus. Also, the changes to their backline could slightly disrupt their offensive output. As such, this match should fall below 45.5 total points ($1.90).
Key matchup: Cherry-Evans v Foran

The battle on the Sea Eagles’ right edge between Daly Cherry-Evans and Kieran Foran will arguably be the highlight of Super Saturday. The pair have played countless games together for Manly at Brookvale, delivering premierships and unforgettable memories to the club’s fans. The major concern in this match will be the combination Cherry-Evans have with Olakau’atu, given Foran has already suffered injury this season. If the Titans are any chance of upsetting the home side, Foran will be the defining factor.
