Round 27: Sea Eagles v Sharks match preview
The Manly Sea Eagles host the Cronulla Sharks at 4 Pines Park this Sunday in a battle of the beaches that could help shape the NRL finals.
The Sea Eagles have won three of their last five matches, including last weekend’s clash with the Bulldogs despite suffering key casualties.
The Sharks have won four of their last five, with last weekend’s loss coming at the hands of an emotionally charged Warriors outfit determined to send halfback Shaun Johnson into retirement a winner.
Craig Fitzgibbon will welcome back more key Sharks this weekend when Jesse Ramien returns in the centres with Ronaldo Mulitalo on the wing. Samuel Stonestreet drops back to the reserves, with Daniel Atkinson named on the bench. Braden Hamlin-Uele and Siosifa Talakai are also in the reserves and could be late inclusions.
Anthony Siebold and the Sea Eagles will be without superstar halfback Tom Trbojevic (shoulder) and Jason Saab (ankle) this weekend. Clayton Faulalo will play his third game at the top level on the wing, with Tolutau Koula named at fullback. Ben Trbojevic has been promoted to the interchange to round out the playing 17.

Sea Eagles v Sharks betting strategy
The Sharks have won three of their last four matches against the Sea Eagles, with two of those wins coming at this ground. However, Manly have won nine of their last 10 matches at 4 Pines Park, and they’ve covered the line in seven of their last eight games. Even without Tom Trbojevic in the side, the Sea Eagles should be able to cover the line and win at $1.83 odds with top NRL bookies.
Sea Eagles star Reuben Garrick has struggled through injury and concussion this season; however, now that he has strung together some consistent football, he’s scored two tries in the last three weeks. Garrick loves playing Cronulla, where he’s scored a try in three of his last four appearances against them, and $2.45 is a solid price for him to score again.
If there is one hole the Sharks can attack, it will be on the right edge through halfback Nicho Hynes and second-rower Briton Nikora. They will be running at utility Karl Lawton, who has missed several tackles while filling a hole in the back row for Manly. Should Lawton make just one mistake, Nikora will be good enough to cross at $3.30 with Marantelli Bet.
