Manly Sea Eagles vs Sydney Roosters NRL preview
Sunday afternoon football for round two of the NRL Premiership kicks off on Sydney’s northern beaches, with the Manly Sea Eagles hosting the Sydney Roosters at 4 Pines Park. Both sides are coming off wins in the inaugural NRL Las Vegas opening weekend, but only one can win this Sunday.
The Sydney Roosters will be without new front row recruit Spencer Leniu (suspended), who is set to be replaced by long-time enforcer Jared Waerea-Hargraves who is returning from suspension himself.
Fetalaiga Pauga (dropped) will be replaced by former Knight Dominic Young who will make his club debut for the Roosters. The remainder of head coach Trent Robinson’s side is unchanged.
Manly Sea Eagles head coach Anthony Siebold has been forced to replace winger Jason Saab (injured, hamstring) with former Tiger Tommy Talau in an otherwise unchanged line-up.

Sea Eagles vs Roosters tips 17/3/2024
The last time these two sides met in 2023, the Sea Eagles were without Taniela Paseka, Nathan Brown was on the Roosters’ side and sent from the field in the 62nd minute, and the home side did not have their superstar fullback Tom Trbojevic. The Roosters have won seven of their last eight matches, but with a fully fit Trbojevic at fullback, former Tiger Luke Brooks in the halves and a strong forward pack, this Sea Eagles side is a vastly different opposition. The Sea Eagles are a great value bet to win ($2.20) in front of their home fans on Sunday with the leading betting sites.
Haumole Olakau’atu has started this season strong, as he did in 2023, scoring the first try for the Sea Eagles in Las Vegas. Coach Siebold, captain Daly Cherry-Evans, and fellow half Brooks appear to have found better ways to bring Olakau’atu into the Sea Eagles’ attack. The New South Wales Blues hopeful has scored in each of the home side’s last three matches and should find the in-goal area at any time ($3.90) during the match on Sunday.
Joseph Manu has also started his season strongly in what’s expected to be his last season in the NRL before taking up a contract with the Rugby Union. Manu has scored a try in each of his last three matches against the Sea Eagles and has the talent to breeze past Tolutau Koula and score at any time ($3.05) on Sunday.
