Schofield suspended over Flemington ride
Glyn Schofield’s win on Avilius in The Bart Cummings at Flemington has come at a cost with the jockey suspended for 10 meetings for careless riding in the Group Three race.
Schofield pleaded guilty to the charge for shifting in late on Avilius during Saturday’s staying race, resulting in Northwest Passage having to be steadied to avoid his heels.
Schofield’s ban will start he rides Le Romain in the $13 million Everest at Randwick on Saturday.

Mark Zahra was also suspended for 10 meetings after pleading guilty to careless riding on Krone early in the home straight aboard Edward Manifold Stakes runner-up Krone.
Zahra’s suspension starts after next Saturday’s meeting and he will miss Caulfield Cup day the following Saturday.
Jye McNeil was also suspended for nine meetings for careless riding for an incident early stages of The Bart Cummings aboard Wheal Leisure.
McNeil will start his suspension after Sunday week’s Cranbourne Cup meeting.
