Savatiano secures second win
Savatiano, ridden by Josh Parr, has given Godolphin a winning start to Villiers day at Randwick.
Savatiano has thrived on a firm track with the sun on her back at Randwick.
The three-year-old filly was spooked by a thunderstorm at Warwick Farm on December 6 before finishing second in a 1300m race, but had no fears under clear skies.
One of Godolphin’s emerging talents produced a dominant performance in the ANZ Bloodstock News Handicap (1100m), with a brilliant turn of foot carrying her to a 1-1/4 length victory.
“The other day she was a little bit upset, she got a bit excited and didn’t really handle the soft track,” assistant trainer Darren Beadman said.

“She was more relaxed and Josh (Parr) gave her a beautiful ride. When she got into that position at the half mile she was always going to be hard to beat.
“She’s been a bit unlucky so it’s good for her confidence to get a win on the board. We’ve always thought a lot of her.”
Calculated ($5) overhauled Awesome Pluck ($2.10) to relegate the pacesetter and favourite to third.
Parr admitted Savatiano ($6) made his assignment simple.
“Sit and steer job, too easy,” he said.
