Savanna Amour on different path

While most of her rivals in the Mode Plate at Eagle Farm will be out to enhance their Magic Millions prospects, rising star Savanna Amour is set to take a different path.

Savanna Amour will be one of the most inexperienced horses in Saturday’s Listed 1200m-race, lining up for her fifth start with two wins to her credit.

But she showed she was in the right frame of mind with an impressive trial win at Deagon on Tuesday following a win at Doomben in fast time on November 5.

She is one of three promising horses owned by Ontrack Syndications along with Girl Sunday, a dual Sydney winner, and Cruising Speed, the winner of four races in Brisbane.

While most of Savanna Amour’s rivals on Saturday are headed to the Magic Millions in January, she is ineligible as an Inglis graduate and is on trial for the Sydney autumn.

Ontrack Syndications manager Grant Morgan said they had always planned a light summer or the filly who is trained by John and Chris Meagher.

“The plan has always been for her to have a light summer. The Mode Plate has been our aim for her this time in,” Morgan said.

“We have the Sydney autumn in mind for her so she is taking a different path to most of her rivals on Saturday.”

“But she has ticked one of the boxes we require and that was to win on a Saturday in Brisbane. If you can’t do that it isn’t much use daydreaming about heading interstate.”

“The other plus is she can run slick times.”
