Sasso Corbaro stakes Magic Millions case
Trainer Kris Lees will now play a waiting game with Randwick winner Sasso Corbaro to see if she makes the field for the rich Magic Millions Guineas.
Before Saturday’s race, the filly was 36th in the order of entry for the $2 million Magic Millions Guineas (1400m) at the Gold Coast in two weeks.
She added $53,375 to her prize money to take her tally to $135,930 which Lees hopes will be enough to get her in after Sasso Corbaro backed up a first-up Hawkesbury win with victory in the TAB Benchmark 76 (1300m).
“She has proved she has come back and hopefully that’s enough to get her in the Gold Coast race,” Lees said.

“I was bit worried after her first two trials because I didn’t think she was hitting the line.
“We mucked around with her gear and then took it all off.
“It did the trick and she is showing a good turn of foot when it matters.”
Sasso Corbaro was the $1.95 favourite in Saturday’s five-horse field and was driven through an inside gap by Blake Shinn to scoot along the rail and put 3-1/4 lengths on Kissing Game ($6).
The TAB immediately reacted to the win by tightening Sasso Corbaro to $8 for the Magic Millions Guineas.
