Sam Walker masterclass guides Roosters to victory over Bulldogs

Sydney Roosters defeat Canterbury Bulldogs

Sam Walker’s exceptional performance in kicking led the Sydney Roosters to a 26-8 win over the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs in round 16 of the NRL season.

The talented halfback showcased his skills with four try assists, along with a flawless five out of five goal kicks.

His precise kicks played a pivotal role in handling the weather conditions, helping the Roosters adjust effectively to the wet conditions.

Despite their best efforts, the Canterbury Bulldogs faced setbacks due to errors at junctures.

This defeat marked their first loss since Round 11, as they struggled against a Roosters team that capitalised on mistakes and dominated possession.

Canterbury initially took the lead with a try by Jaeman Salmon after 17 minutes; however, Dominic Young quickly equalised for the Roosters 4 minutes later.

A Brandon Smith 40-20 kick put the Roosters on attack again, leading to Nat Butcher’s try after an expert grubber from Walker, which extended their lead to 14-4.

The Roosters maintained control in the second half as Terrell May scored off a bounce from another precise kick by Walker.

Despite Jeral Skeltons 90-metre try for the Bulldogs, they couldn’t match up to the relentless attacking prowess of the Roosters.

Blake Steep, a newcomer to the field, wrapped up a performance by scoring a try and bringing the score to 26-8.

The game took a turn towards the end when Junior Pauga was sent off for a high tackle on Connor Tracy, but the Roosters managed to hold their ground even with just 11 players.

With this win, the Roosters have solidified their position in the top four and pushed them to $5 to win the NRL Grand Final with the top NRL bookmakers, while the Bulldogs are just holding above the top eight and currently priced at $26.

Sam Walker has been showcasing his skills lately, with 10 try-assists and 42 points in his past five games.
