Ruthven breaks through in Queensland Derby
Sydney jockey Hugh Bowman has claimed his first Queensland Derby win, scoring on Victorian-trained three-year-old Ruthven.
Bowman put Ruthven into the race at the 600m and the Ciaron Maher-trained colt cleared out to beat Rockstar Rebel and Ana Royale at Doomben.
Ruthven has been a consistent campaigner in Group races this season with placings in the Sandown Guineas, Alistair Clark Stakes and South Australian Derby.
