NRL on a sunny Easter Sunday afternoon will see the Sydney Roosters host the New Zealand Warriors at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
The Round 6 match will give neutral fans a chance to see if there is any substance to the Warriors recent three-game win streak, with the most recent being a one-point thriller over the Cowboys.
The Roosters clicked into gear during the second half of their win over the Broncos last weekend, but they’ll need to address the start of their game, falling behind 10-0 in the opening stanza. They displayed against the Cowboys and Sea Eagles how strong they can be when they get in the mood, blowing them apart in the first half of each of those games.
They’ve struggled for consistency so far this season, but it could be a case of the squad still rounding into their best form after a truncated pre-season.
Ideally you’d like to see them start to hit their stride by about the sixth game of the year, and a Warriors team fresh off three wins will be a good test for the Tricolours.
At just $1.18 with BetOnline, they’re far too short to take in the head-to-head market, so perhaps have some fun and back them at the -14.5 line. They’ve won 12 of their last 13 games played in the day-time and the Warriors have failed to cover the line in six of their last seven games in Sydney.
It is a match made in heaven.
The Warriors have enough talent that can cause headaches in spite-of a questionable head coach, and in the last few weeks they’ve certainly done that against what some experts may call ‘soft’ opposition.
Much like the Roosters in Round 5, they finished the contest in a lot better shape than their opponents, but the challenge for them this week is to get the game to a position where they still have a chance in the closing exchanges.
The $5.20 they’re getting in the head-to-head betting shows absolutely no confidence from the punters, who will have looked at the schedule and bemoaned the lack of good teams they’ve faced so far this season.
If you’re looking for a good value pick, Jesse Arthurs is $5 to score a try in this game. He already has three this year for his new club, so perhaps the hot streak continues?

Key matchup: Keary vs Johnson
The Warriors spine seems to have settled with Shaun Johnson at halfback, and as a result they’re a much better chance to come up with at least 20 points against any opposition.
The opening two games without Reece Walsh saw them shuffle some deck chairs and it went poorly, but since Johnson has returned to the team in the last fortnight they’ve been more formidable.
Since 2016, whatever side of the field Johnson has played on, that edge has invariably scored the most points each season. He gets a lot of unfair criticism for things he can’t do, but he does so much good and it outweighs any negatives in his game.
His opposite number in Luke Keary has been working his way back into shape after a year out of the game, and so far has four try assists to his name.
This feels like a game in favourable conditions where Keary is able to show some of his best form, so bring on the halfback duel.
