NRL Finals Week 2: Roosters v Sea Eagles preview
Sydney Roosters will host the Manly Sea Eagles on Saturday night in week two of the 2024 NRL finals at Allianz Stadium.
The Roosters are $1.64 favourites to win the semi-final, with the Sea Eagles ($2.30) outsiders with NRL bookmakers, despite splitting their matches this season.
The Roosters-Sea Eagles winner will book themselves a ticket to Melbourne to face the Melbourne Storm in a preliminary final next weekend.
These two clubs also met in round 21 at this ground where Sydney’s fast start proved too much for the Sea Eagles to overcome, losing by four points.
These two sides have met nine times in finals football, with Manly winning on three occasions. However, the Roosters’ three wins have also come at their home ground, so it remains to be seen whether the Sea Eagles can snap their winning streak?
Following last week’s 20-point loss to the Panthers in Penrith, Roosters coach Trent Robinson has recalled veteran forward Jared Waerea-Hargraves (suspended) to the starting side, dropping Nat Butcher back to the interchange bench and Zach Dockar-Clay to the reserves. Naufahu Whyte has been named at lock in place of Terrell May, and Victor Radley could be a late inclusion to the side after being named on the extended bench.
Meanwhile, Manly head coach Anthony Seibold has named an unchanged line up following last week’s two-point win against the Bulldogs. This is despite confirmation that superstar fullback Tom Trbojevic is playing through a grade three AC joint (shoulder) injury and an MCL sprain in his knee.
The Roosters will be expected to start as favourites, given betting markets opened with the home side at $1.62. However the potential of Trbojevic missing could bring a lot of late money from punters for Sydney to win.

Roosters v Sea Eagles betting predictions
Manly have won four of their last seven clashes with the Sydney. However, the Roosters have won each of their last four home games against Manly, including their strong winning record at home in the finals. With a stronger forward pack, and far more talented outside backs in their side, the Roosters should easily take home the win here, winning by 5 points or more to cover the line at $1.90 with bookmakers.
Easts winger Daniel Tupou has been in brilliant form for his side in recent weeks, scoring six tries in his last five games. He has also scored at least one try in seven of his last eight appearances where Sydney started as favourites. Look for his try-scoring form ($1.75) to continue this weekend.
Sea Eagles second-rower Haumole Olakau’atu had a barn-storming game against the Sharks a fortnight a go, scoring a try, and was unlucky not to score last against the Bulldogs where he had a line break and 11 tackle breaks. Olakau’atu will be taking on Rooster Sitili Tupouniua who has missed nine tackles alone in his last two appearances. There is great value on offer for Olaka’atu to score a try ($3.70) this weekend.
