Super Sunday football kicks off in Gosford with the Sydney Roosters hosting the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Industree Group Stadium.

The Roosters are in the middle of a three game losing streak and will be desperate to snap back into form, while the Bulldogs will be desperate to keep in touch with the top eight.

The Bulldogs have named Ryan Sutton to start in the front row as their only major change from their last match against the Titans. New South Wales Blues representatives Josh Addo-Carr and Tevita Pangai Junior have been named in the reserves but have not been confirmed as starters in this match.

For the Roosters, Blues captain James Tedesco and Queensland Maroons hero Lindsay Collins have been named in the starting side to back up from Wednesday’s match. Coach Trent Robinson has been forced to make changes with Victory Radley (suspension) and Brandon Smith (thumb) being replaced by Jake Turpin and Sitili Tupouniua, while Joseph Manu returns from injury at five-eighth.

These two clubs have met on 46 occasions with the Roosters winning 24 times. The Bulldogs have never travelled to Gosford to play the Roosters as an away fixture, however; they have been building through the 2023 season as a very resilient team. Despite having one of, if not the longest injury list in the NRL, the Bulldogs sit one win behind the Roosters on the ladder with one less bye.

The week off will work wonders for this wounded Bulldogs squad, and should they continue to fight as they have through the first half of the season, they can secure a win on the road, which is paying $3.64 PalmerBet.

The battle on the right edge between Egan Butcher and Jacob Preston will be the area captain and halfback Matt Burton will be looking to target for the Bulldogs. Butcher has shown throughout this season he is a defensive liability in the second row, missing more than two tackles per game on average. Butcher will be tasked with guarding halfback Luke Keary and the pair will certainly be the target of Burton and Preston. If the Bulldogs captain can get Preston in the right position, he will score a try at some point during the match ($3.80).

Recent history for these two sides this season has shown that, when either of these sides win, it’s a low scoring affair. Particularly for the Roosters, when they get beaten, it can be by larger margins. Despite being one of the most talented rosters in the NRL, the Roosters have struggled for cohesion and point scoring. Should these trends continue, this will be a low scoring affair, finishing below 41.5 total match points ($1.90).

The battle between these two young centres could be key to deciding the outcome of this match. The Roosters and Suaalii have been criticised heavily for their poor form of recent weeks, with many experts singling the future Rugby Union convert of not involving himself in the game as he should. If the time off for the Roosters have given them the ability to involve Suaalii more in the game plan, Alamoti’s defence will face its biggest test on Sunday.
