Rodd to ride L’Entrecote at Eagle Farm
Trainer Kelly Schweida will renew an old association with jockey Michael Rodd to help L’Entrecote win his first open company race at Eagke Farm.
The now Singapore-based Rodd will ride At Doomben on Friday and Eagle FArm on Saturday when he represents NSW in the State of Origin jockeys’ series.
L’Entrecote has won seven races and Schweida believes he deserves a chance in better company in the Mount Franklin Quality (1500m) at Eagle Farm in which he carries 55kg.
“L’Entrecote has been carrying big weights in restricted class and it is often said weight will stop a train,” Schweida said.
“Michael is in town for the State of Origin jockeys series and I have had plenty of success with him.”

Rodd has ridden many winners for Schweida, most notably the Queensland Guineas and QTC Cup on Nova Star.
“Michael is a big race jockey and that will come in handy from barrier 14,” Schweida said.
This week, Schweida shared the Queensland Racing Media Association’s Achievement of the Year Award with Rodd’s former master Bryan Guy who is now in partnership with his son Daniel.
Rodd will ride Good Luck Malela for the Guys in the QTIS Three-Year-Old Hcp (1600m).
“It will be like old times have Michael riding for us,” Guy said.
Rodd rode nearly 400 winners and won a Brisbane senior jockeys premiership when indentured to Guy at the Gold Coast in the early 2000s.
