Ringo rocks Tarzan in Caloundra showdown
Track specialists Ringo’s A Rockstar and Tarzan again staged a two-horse war at Caloundra after their cause was helped by the late scratching of favourite Tumbler.
Ringo’s A Rockstar ($3.20) scored by a short half head to Tarzan ($3.50) with 1 3/4 lengths to another track specialist in Irish Constabulary ($3.60) in the Latitude Construction Consulting Hcp (1000m).
The race was seen as an unofficial battle for the title of Caloundra’s best 1000m horse as the three placegetters and Tumbler all have very good records at the track and distance.
However, Tumbler was scratched in the saddling enclosure when she shifted a glue on shoe, which could not be replaced.
Tarzan beat Ringo’s A Rockstar when he ran a course record for the Caloundra 1000m earlier this year but at their past two clashes Ringo’s A Rockstar as been the victor.

Ringo’s A Rockstar now has a record at the track and distance of five starts for four wins and a second while Tarzan has had 12 starts at the track and distance for seven wins and four seconds.
Trainer Norm Stephens’ son Wayne Stephens said Ringo’s A Rockstar would now head for a spell.
“The simple fact is he doesn’t like Doomben. So we can put him away and bring him back for the summer races at the Gold Coast and Caloundra,” he said.
Tarzan’s trainer Stuart Kendrick said the fact Tarzan had to give Ringo’s A Rockstar probably told at the finish.
“But they are both good horses. maybe we can talk them into having a Group One race here over 1000m next winter,” Kendrick said.
Irish Constabulary ran his usual honest race to take his track and distance statistics to seven starts for four wins, a second and two thirds.
