Rikki Palmer back riding for Harold Norman
Veteran trainer Harold Norman would like nothing more than to welcome his former apprentice Rikki Palmer back to Queensland racing with a winner.
Palmer (nee Jamieson), who had ridden 130 career winners, was riding for the first time as senior jockey when she broke her arm in a fall at Beaudesert in October 2015.
Since then Palmer and her husband, fellow jockey Matt Palmer, have had a stint in Mauritius.
She has been back riding trackwork and trials on the Gold Coast for the past couple of months.
Palmer will ride Curse Free (2YO colts and geldings handicap), Mystic Mist 2YO fillies) and Lucky Tom (Benchmark 90) for Norman at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

“One things about Rikki, she is hard worker. She has been riding work for me and Toby Edmonds and I am keen for her to get a kick along,” Norman said.
“It has been two years since she has ridden in Queensland but she is fit and ready to fire.”
Norman said Mystic Mist had shown plenty of ability and won a trial but needed luck from her barrier (12).
Curse Free had also trialled solidly but would probably be better as time went by.
“Lucky Tom is Rikki’s favourite horse and he did win first-up last time when no-one gave him a chance,” Norman said.
