Record first acceptances for Blue Diamond
More than 700 juveniles remain paid up for this season’s Group One Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield after first acceptances for Victoria’s biggest two-year-old race.
The $1.5 million Blue Diamond in February attracted 1470 nominations in July and 706 horses remain for the 1200m race.
The number of entries is a record for the first acceptance stage.

The Lindsay Park stable of trainers David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig still have 77 horses entered as they bid to win the race for the second-straight year after the success of Catchy last season.
Trainer Tony McEvoy and the stable of Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott each have 46 horses still entered after first acceptances were taken on Tuesday, Aaron Purcell has 38 and Mick Price and Hawkes Racing each have 34.
Hawkes Racing’s Blue Diamond first acceptors includes the unraced Prince Of Caviar, the second foal of champion mare Black Caviar.
The next round of acceptances are taken on January 9.
