Raiders v Warriors match preview
With both sides desperate for a win, the Canberra Raiders host the New Zealand Warriors at GIO Stadium this Friday night to kick off round 19 of the 2024 NRL Premiership.
The home side will be looking to snap a four-game losing streak, with two of Canberra’s last four losses coming at this ground. With big-name players coming back to the side, the Raiders will need to start stringing wins together to boost their chances of playing finals football.
The Warriors have had a similar run of poor form, losing three of their last five games. Their last two losses have been in Australia, and with just two of their next six clashes to be hosted in Auckland, they will need to find a way of winning on the road.
Ricky Stuart has made multiple changes to his Raiders outfit. Sebastian Kris replaces Albert Hopoate on the wing, Jamal Fogarty returns at halfback in place of Adam Cook, Hudson Young rejoins the forward pack, and Zac Hosking will come off the bench, with Simi Sasagi and Emre Guler dropping back to the reserves.
Warriors coach Andrew Webster has also made several changes. Ali Leiataua will make his NRL debut in the centres, shifting Roger Tuivasa-Sheck to the wing in place of Marcelo Montoya (groin). Mitchell Barnett and Kurt Capewell have been named to back-up from the State of Origin decider on Wednesday night in Brisbane, but Tom Ale and Bunty Afoa have been named in the reserves as cover.

Raiders v Warriors predictions
Recent history favours the Warriors, who have won four of their last five clashes against the Raiders — including a 22-point win on their last trip to Canberra. The Warriors have won four of their last five matches with Te Maire Martin at halfback, and at $2.02 with online bookies, they are great value to upset the home side.
Warriors veteran Tuivasa-Sheck has been shifted back to the wing, where he played in round five against the Rabbitohs and scored a try. He has also scored in his last two appearances against the Raiders. Taking Tuivasa-Sheck to score at any time looks a safe bet at $1.92 with top NRL betting sites.
Four of the Warriors’ last five matches have gone over the total points line. However, their most recent outing was a 12-13 loss to the Bulldogs, while the Raiders’ last two games both finished with no more than 28 points scored. On that form, under 46.5 total points is the play at $1.91 with Bet365.
