Round 5: Rabbitohs v Warriors match preview
Super Saturday football for round five of the NRL Premiership kicks off at Accor Stadium with the South Sydney Roosters hosting the New Zealand Warriors.
The Rabbitohs secured their first win of the season last weekend with a narrow four-point result over the Bulldogs at this ground. Meanwhile, the Warriors claimed their second win in a row, beating the Knights in Auckland by eight points.
South Sydney Rabbitohs coach Jason Demetriou has been forced to make two changes with Alex Johnson (hamstring) and Shaquai Mitchell (concussion) ruled out. Izaac Tu’itupou Thompson has been named to start on the wing, with Sean Keppie returning to the side via the bench.
Warriors coach Andrew Webster has named Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad to return from a hamstring injury, with Roger Tuivasa-Sheck shifting back to the centres and Adam Pompey dropping back to the reserves. Luke Metcalf (leg) and Kurt Capewell (concussion) have been ruled out, with Te Maire Martin starting at five-eighth and Marara Niukore lining up in the second row. Chanel Harris-Tevita has also dropped out of the lineup, with Jazz Tevaga and Tom Ale coming onto the bench.

South Sydney Rabbitohs v New Zealand Warriors predictions
While the Rabbitohs have won all of their last five matches against the Warriors, they’ve also lost seven of their last eight matches in Sydney. Even without Metcalf, the New Zealand Warriors will be boosted by the return of Nicoll-Klokstad at the back. The Warriors have the stronger forward pack and should cover the -2 handicap at $1.90.
Dallin Watene-Zelezniak has scored at least one try in nine of his last 10 away matches for the Warriors. He has already scored two tries this season from 17 tackle breaks and four line breaks, and now he lines up on the defensively suspect Taane Milne. Expect Watene-Zelezniak to score a try at any time as a $1.80 hope with online bookmakers.
The battle in the centres between NZ’s Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and South Sydney’s Jack Wighton will be one of the game’s highlights. Tuivasa-Sheck has scored at least one try in four of his last five matches at this ground. If Wighton cannot maintain his aggression throughout the match, the Warriors centre will score a try at some stage ($2.90).
