Punting tips, bookmaker free bets and best odds for EPL Week 4
AFTER another (mostly pointless) international break, the English Premier League resumes this weekend with a handful of cracking fixtures.
The two title favourites will duke it out in what could be a telling Manchester derby, while Liverpool will host Leicester City in their first home game of the season.
There’s also a tricky date for Arsenal against Southampton, who stunned the Gunners last season with a four-goal drubbing at St. Mary’s.
At the other end of the prestige spectrum, fast-starting Hull City will look to keep the good times rolling as they travel to fellow relegation candidates Burnley.
Here are the top EPL bets for our featured matches of round four, with best odds and value picks from our most trusted Premier League betting sites.

Manchester United vs. Manchester City
12:30pm local (9:30pm AEST) on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Old Trafford
- Draw half-time/Man United full-time – $5.50 (Sportsbet)
- Anthony Martial first goalscorer – $9 (CrownBet)
If both teams were at full strength, one would say this was near impossible to call with any confidence. However, Sergio Aguero has made things a little easier by getting himself rubbed out for three matches. City have other avenues to goal, and David Silva is in something like career-best form, but one wonders how they will cope without their talisman striker. United, meanwhile, have Zlatan firing and can afford to start Marcus Rashford – fresh off a hat-trick on his England under-21 debut – from the bench. Pep Guardiola has the head-to-head advantage over Jose Mourinho, however, with seven wins to three from 16 meetings.
Arsenal vs. Southampton
3pm local on Saturday, September 10, 2016 (12am AEST Sunday) at Emirates Stadium
- Arsenal 2-1 correct score – $9 (Bet365)
- Mesut Ozil anytime goalscorer – $3.40 (Sportsbet)
Arsenal haven’t enjoyed the greatest start, but there is no denying things have improved since they conceded four to Liverpool in round one. The draw against Leicester was uninspiring, but there was a bit of that signature flair about the win over Watford before the break. In line for his first Premier League start is Germany international Shkodran Mustafi, who will be a welcome addition the Gunners’ oft-criticised back line. Southampton are yet to win in EPL 2016-17, and they look to be missing a real goal threat without Graziano Pelle and Sadio Mane up front. Shane Long is a bloody good battler, but he’s hardly prolific.
Burnley vs. Hull City
3pm local on Saturday, September 10, 2016 (12am AEST Sunday) at Turf Moor
- 1-1 correct score – $6.50 (William Hill)
- Robert Snodgrass first goalscorer – $12 (Sportsbet)
These two teams were tipped for an immediate return to the Championship, but they’ve made a fair fist of the top flight thus far. Burnley found themselves on the wrong end of a Cesc Fabregas-inspired Chelsea in week three, but only after opening their Premier League account with a shock 2-0 win over Liverpool. Hull, meanwhile, have silenced many a doubter with two wins from three, only losing out to Man United after a late, late Rashford winner. Both teams like to defend as a unit and spring their opponents on the counter, so it will be interesting to see who, if anyone, takes the initiative to get on the ball and make something happen.
Liverpool vs. Leicester City
5:30pm local on Saturday, September 10, 2016 (2:30am AEST Sunday) at Anfield
- Liverpool -1.0 handicap – $2.70 (Sportsbet)
- Georginio Wijnaldum first goalscorer – $17 (Bet365)
Liverpool were one of only two teams to beat Leicester last season, the other being Arsenal. But while Jurgen Klopp’s men have shown glimpses of their vast potential in the early stages, their inconsistencies and defensive issues have also come to the fore. They will be sweating on the fitness of star signing Sadio Mane, who is expected to return from a knee knock. The Foxes should have goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel back from a hernia problem as they search for their second win of the season. While the $5 price for the defending champs is tempting, one suspects the Reds will look to impress in their first home game for 2016-17.
