The 2025 World Surf League Portugal Pro completed the Men’s Round of 32 in solid surf at Supertubos before onshore winds forced an early stop. With a massive storm approaching, the event will be OFF for two days (March 19-20).

Take a look at the Day 4 highlights and the betting odds with the top online bookmakers for WSL Portugal Pro Day 5 below.

World No. 1 Italo Ferreira remains a major threat in Portugal with BetOnline
having him as the $1.12 favourite to beat Joel Vaughan.

Ferreira advanced to the Round of 16 with a high-flying 8.17 against wildcard Jorgann Couzinet.

The two-time event winner at Supertubos, used his trademark combination of barrels and aerials to progress.

“If you’re in the right spot, there are opportunities, but finishing waves is tough because of the closeouts,” Ferreira explained.

“This wave has barrels and air sections, which suits my style. Things can change so fast here, and that keeps me excited.”

Filipe Toledo, the two-time World Champion and former event winner, relied on his experience to outmaneuver Alejo Muniz.

Mixing precision and aggression, Toledo found the right opportunities to dominate their heat.

“There were a lot more opportunities today,” Toledo said.

“My strategy was just to get going, get that rhythm, and take advantage of any open corners before the tide dropped.”

Mignot and Vaughan Pull Off Major Upsets

Marco Mignot delivered one of the biggest upsets of the event by eliminating two-time Portugal champion Griffin Colapinto at $5.50 odds with BetOnline.

Mignot launched into a clean frontside air, scoring an excellent 8.00, while Colapinto struggled to respond, marking his worst result in Portugal since his 2018 rookie season.

“I just went for that section and it felt amazing,” Mignot said.

“Griffin is such an inspiration, and it’s surreal to beat someone I look up to.”

Mignot’s Round of 16 qualification has already pushed him up seven spots in the live rankings.

Joel Vaughan continued his solid rookie season by earning his third straight Round of 16 appearance.

He started strong with a 7.00 ride and maintained control as Ramzi Boukhiam failed to find momentum.

Boukhiam’s early exit marks his third consecutive Round of 32 loss this season.

Seth Moniz ($3.50 with BetOnline) secured his best-ever result in Portugal, edging out Miguel Pupo in a closely contested heat.

Pupo’s errors proved costly, while Moniz’s composed performance moved him five spots up in the live rankings.

“Portugal changes every 10 minutes, so having a game plan doesn’t always work,” Moniz said.

“You have to adapt constantly.”

Jordy Smith and Cole Houshmand also made strong moves in the rankings.

Smith, a three-time event runner-up, played a calculated heat against Alan Cleland, securing the win despite a late charge from the rookie.

Houshmand narrowly edged out Connor O’Leary in a tight goofy-foot battle, notching another strong result.
