The Port Adelaide Power will play their first home game of the 2022 AFL season when they face the Hawthorn Hawks this Saturday night at Adelaide Oval.
A handful of injuries could be to blame for the Power’s loss against the Lions in round one, as they were overrun in the final quarter after Aliir Aliir, Xavier Duursma, Trent McKenzie, Robbie Gray and Connor Rozee were all sidelined or hindered.
You have to hand it to Sam Mitchell and his Hawks, as they were impressive enough to defeat a valiant Kangaroos outfit despite it being their first official home-and-away contest under the new coaching system.

Although the Hawks looked decent in their first win of the season, beating the Power on the road is one completely different challenge even for the league’s best teams.
Ken Hinkley’s Power only lost four games in front of their home fans in 2021, which included three games against the eventual grand finalists.
The loss of Duursma will take away some of the Power’s run off half-back and through the middle, but they could inject Josh Sinn into the starting 22 to bring in some genuine pace.
Karl Amon is another player who can adjust his role to help fix any issues around the ground, and the versatile wingman could be one to keep an eye on in the disposal betting markets that online bookmakers will be running this weekend.
Key matchup: Mitch Georgiades vs Mitch Lewis
These two young key forwards are going to be very important for their respective teams this weekend, but for different reasons. Mitch Lewis paired well with Jack Gunston last week, as the tall duo combined for six majors, but Lewis needs to continue his efforts if the Hawks are any chance of winning. Mitch Georgiades was very quiet at the Gabba last weekend, finishing with just one goal despite taking three marks inside 50. Georgiades needs to take the next step as he enters his third season of senior football, and it could start this weekend against a vulnerable Hawthorn outfit.
Port Adelaide vs Hawthorn match predictions
If Port Adelaide won last weekend and the Hawks did not get up against North Melbourne, the line for this game would be far greater than just 25.5 points. The Power are clearly going to be one of the premiership contenders this season and should immediately flex their muscles following last week’s disappointing loss. Ollie Wines, Travis Boak and Zak Butters should be too classy in the midfield for the Hawks.
Port Adelaide -25.5
Port Adelaide vs Hawthorn goalkicker betting tips
The young key forward struggled to impact the game while his partner in crime was absent, as Charlie Dixon would normally attract more attention and allow Georgiades to play his natural game and fly for marks. Sam Frost can easily match Georgiades for speed, but he cannot match the athletic forward in the air, which is enough for the young goalkicker to expose him deep inside 50.
Mitch Georgiades 3+ goals
Port Adelaide vs Hawthorn AFL same-game multi
We expect a breakout performance from Mitch Georgiades will propel the Power to a much-needed victory in round two, while Karl Amon will be at his best gathering disposals on the wing and through the middle.
Port Adelaide -25.5 / Georgiades 3+ goals / Amon 25+ disposals
